Unique for Vanrail 2021 are open houses
Thursday Evening 4 PM to 6 PM. Bill Sornsin's Southern Pacific Cascade Division
Sunday afternoon/early evening . As this will be the last VanRail for Mark Dance's Columbia & Western, Mark and two layout owners near by him, Gary Hinshaw and John Geddes, have offered to open their layouts to guests for unstructured visits after the final op sessions on Sunday. Feel free to take lots of photos and/or run a train on the C&W. Gary 's layout is the N Scale Tehachapi BC (recently featured in MRP) while John's HO layout is under construction and has just been begun. It will feature an innovative 9-level train elevator and staging yard(s) which has been completed and will be demo'd. If you don't think you'll have had your fill of Vancouver model trains by then please plan to drop by! Logistics: • Gary and John’s layouts are within a block of each other and both are within 10 minutes' drive of Mark’s on the West side of Vancouver about 30 mins drive from the hotel. • The open houses will be running 4-7PM only. • To help reduce congestion we will be trying to organize two groups of visitors swapping between Mark's and Gary+John's layouts at 5:30. • If you are planning to drop by please indicate so along with your layout selections in September. We will use this info to pencil names into the two 90 minute slots.
